Psychic imagery: Ames can cause people to see things that she wants them to see. She often uses this ability to make herself invisible to others.
Psychic suggestion: Ames can make people believe things and do things that they would not normally do with a suggestion that is influenced by her psychic energy. (such as put a person to sleep with a verbal suggestion.)
Battle prowess: Due to a mix of her telepathy and physical training, Ames can sense out the actions opponents are going to make against her before they make them.
Gymnastics, meditation, judo, ninjutsu, qing gong, parkour, hand-to-hand combat, weapons expert, figure drawing, and mathematics.
Weaknesses and Flaws: Using her psychic talents for an extended period of time (two hours) leaves her feeling tired. When she is run down, psychic attacks are more difficult to block (she has her own shields to rely on, but they are no longer reinforced by her centered concentration.)
Ames can become overloaded by the emotions that she feels from others. For this reason, she keeps herself centered as much as she can.

Personality: In personality and temperament, Ames takes a great deal after her father. She can be cool on the surface, being able to separate work from personal life with complete ease. She has a severe dry wit and rarely breaks into a smile (though there are a few people who see her snarky side and who can rile her up pretty quickly). When she isn't working, she can be more animated in speech and physicality, and is more willing to let her hair down sort-to-speak. She prefers to be alone than being around others (in thanks to her telepathy; the constant chatter of other people's thoughts becomes a soft hum the further she is away from others.)
Ames puts her faith in strength and efficiency. She sees her abilities as tools meant to be used and honed. She has respect for rules and authority, but she adheres to her own code of ethics that does not include red tape.
Ames is a student of the Tao, a discipline she discovered when she was getting involved in her martial arts training.
Backstory: Ames Coulson is the daughter of SHIELD agent Phil Coulson and retired SHIELD agent Olivia Hook (Coulson). She spent her early years staying a great deal of time at her grandmother's or friend's houses, as her parents went on secret missions to save the world. Though they were never specific about the details of their missions, Phil and Olivia were always honest about their line of work with Ames. Being the daughter of spies is not an easy thing, but Ames made the best of it. When her parents were around, they dedicated their time to her and there were even some times that their family life resembled the life of other families—until someone attacked them at home (which happened more than once). Olivia went freelance when Ames was six and gave more time to her daughter. Phil wanted his daughter to have as normal of a life as possible, but when she was twelve, Ames's powers surfaced. Beginning at this time, Ames received training from her mother, who also possesses psychic talents, and attended Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters the majority of the time, receiving special tutelage from both Professor Xavier and Jean Grey.
At twenty, Ames left Xavier's and enrolled at Empire State University. She also had a desire to use her powers to help people, but instead of joining SHIELD (which Ames isn't even sure if her father would let her join), or joining the X-Men, Ames went freelance like her mom.
Ames resides in a small flat on the lower east side. She keeps herself going by taking jobs to run security or being a bodyguard. She's paying her way through school (currently undeclared and completing her general ed) and spends her nights as a soloist superhero named Esper.
